Brian Regan

brian_reganCritics and peers agree, Brian Regan has distinguished himself as one of the premier comedians in the country.  The perfect balance of sophisticated writing and physicality, Brian fills theaters nationwide with fervent fans that span generations.

Releasing two critically acclaimed hour Comedy Central specials and DVD’s in as many years - 2008’s “The Epitome of Hyperbole,” and 2007’s “Brian Regan Standing Up” - Brian has set a standard of excellence that others continually try to follow.

Brian’s non-stop theater tour has visited more than 80 cities each year since 2005 and continues into 2010.  It is the quality of his material, relatable to a wide audience and revered by his peers, which continues to grow Brian’s fan base.

With his first appearance on “The Late Show with David Letterman” in 1995, Brian solidified his place on the show and has made now made more than 20 appearances.  He also includes regular visits with Conan O’Brien on his schedule.

A dorm room favorite, Brian’s 1997 CD, “Brian Regan Live,” has sold over 150,000 copies and consistently charts in iTunes Top Ten Comedy Albums.  Brian’s 2000 “Comedy Central Presents” special continues to be a top viewer choice and Brian’s independently released 2004 DVD, “I Walked on the Moon,” is available at www.BrianRegan.com.

Blues Fix at 6

bluesfix150I'm like you...I LOVE the Blues! And I know that if it wasn't for people like Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, Son House, Robert Johnson, Bo Diddley, Howlin' Wolf, and Willie Dixon, there would never have been a Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones or Stevie Ray Vaughan! They laid the ground-work for classic rock and modern blues.

Jazz & Blues Concert Series

boneramaWhen Bonerama struts onstage with its four-trombone frontline, you can guess it's not quite like any jazz rock band you've seen.  New Orleans' Bonerama has been recognized by Rolling Stone, hailed as "the ultimate in brass balls."  The group has also been honored as "Best Rock Band" by the Big Easy Awards 2007.  Having appeared at the Sioux Falls JazzFest in 2007, Bonerama recently won numerous OffBeat Magazine Awards and regularly tops Offbeat's trombone category.

Bonerama is something different.  This is not your traditional brass band, but a group with brass to spare - even with no trumpets or saxes in sight.  You won't want to miss their vintage funk, classic rock and free improvisation in the same set; maybe even within the same song! Tickets for the Friday March 12, 2010 show at the Orpheum Theatre are $28 and $25.

brubeck_brothersBeing the son of a jazz legend can be a daunting experience, especially if you follow in his footsteps.  The Brubeck Brothers Quartet is an exciting jazz group featuring two members of one of America's most accomplished musical families, Daniel Brubeck (drums), and Chris Brubeck (bass & trombone).  Guitarist Mike DeMicco, and pianist Chuck Lamb, complete this dynamic quartet.

The Brubeck Brothers Quartet's debut Koch recording, Intuition, impressed the national jazz media and spend several weeks in the top ten radio charts while earning enthusiastic reviews from JazzTimes, Downbeat, Boston Globe and many other respected publications.  Dan appeared with his group The Dolphins in 1994 for a young Jazz & Blues Society.  Now returning with his brother Chris- the results will be grand - times two! The show is Friday April 9, 2010 at the Orpheum Theatre. Tickets are $40 and $22.

Tickets can be purchased for the entire series now at Sioux Falls Jazz & Blues Society by calling (605) 335-6101 or online here.
